LESSON 15: ISLAM AND MODERN SCIENCE

ALLAH (S.W.T.) is the creator of this cosmos. All the system prevalent in it, whether PHYSICAL SYSTEM, CHEMICAL SYSTEM, BOTANICAL SYSTEM, GEOLOGICAL SYSTEM or any other system, have been designed by Him. Since ISLAM is eternal till the DOOMSDAY, and it presents a complete code of life, the modern sciences cannot be separated from it.

Let us see, how ISLAM guides us towards the modern sciences.

1. OPTICS is one of the most important and modern branch of science, with the help of which a man can observe things situated at the remotest distances and with it very small things can be studied, even an atom. The instruments which can help in observing the far flung things and those of very small size, are considered to be admirable inventions. ALLAH, the Magnificent, had guided towards these :

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :


“Soon will We show them our signs in the (farthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the truth. Is it not enough that Thy doth witness all things?” (41 : 53)

2. The present period is called “ATOMIC AGE”. Day by day extremely dangerous ATOMIC WEAPONS are being developed. ATOM BOMB and HYDROGEN BOMB are the deadly outcome of his science. Men have today forgotten the teachings and instructions of ALLAH, the Magnificent, and are fighting with each other. They are determined to kill each other by the weapons developed by them. ALLAH, the Magnificent, had pointed out towards this situation long ago. We could save ourselves from destruction by resorting to the rule of fair – play and love given by ALLAH, the Magnificent.

ALLAH, the Almighty says :


“Then watch thou for the day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, enveloping the people: this will be a penalty grievous.” (44 : 10-11)

3. Modern science tells us that as man ascends the atmosphere he becomes out of breath due to dearth of Oxygen. This information was given by AL-QURAN several centuries ago.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :



“Those whom ALLAH, (in His plan) willeth to guide, … He openeth their breasts to Islam; those whom He willeth to leave straying, … He maketh their breasts close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies: thus doth ALLAH (heap) the penalty on those who refuse to believe.” (6 : 125)
 

4. Instruments of secret recording are considered today the sign of most modern scientific development. Islam had given the idea of recording long long ago, and had warned man that all what he does go on is being preserved. Our limbs and even our skin records in a miraculous way all that we do. That is why ALLAH, the Magnificent, has asked us to refrain from vice and excesses done openly or secretly, as we have one day to answer for all our doings. Our recorded actions will be shown and indicated to us, leaving no margin for refusal.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :



“They will say to their skins: “Why bear ye witness against us?”. They will say: “ALLAH hath us speech, … (He) Who giveth speech to everything.” (41 : 21)

5. Who is unaware of the wonders of electronics today? Out of them, computer is master piece which cannot be ignored. If you think over it, computer performs wonders, because of its two basic qualities. Firstly it stores all the detailed information and secondly it brings it forth when needed immediately. Al-Quran had given us an idea of such instrument long long ago.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :


“And the book (of Deeds) will be placed (before you); and thou wilt see the sinful in great terror because of what is (recorded) therein: they will say, “Ah! Woe to us! What a book is this ! it leaves out nothing small or great, but takes account thereof !”. They will find all that they did, placed before them, and not one will thy Lord treat with injustice.” (18 : 49)

6. To day the medical science has accepted the step by step development of baby (How a baby in born) which Allah (S.W.T) told us more then 1400 years ago in the Holy Quran for details please read The Holy Quran (23 : 12 to 14)

3 (a) No (b) Although worldly success achieved by so called developed nations may be noticable but their moral conditions is extremely deplorable due to drinking - womanising, gambling, sex-diseases like aid, Homo - sextuality, poor family life and not recognising the existance of Allah (S.W.T). It has destroyed the family life of such people. Such nations eventualy suffer from major calamities.

4 Yes because Islam is a complete way of life that guides us & solves all our problems. Islam will last till the dooms-day.

5 I have not yet tried to find out those inventions in Quran but will do so Insha - Allah yes! I have read the entire Quran with translation.
