LESSON 10: THE QUALITIES AND REWARDS OF ONE WHO WORSHIPS ALLAH

You learned in earlier lessons, about the significance of worship, its affects and benefits. It will not be without interest, to know the effects that are created in the lives of those worshippers who obey ALLAH and His Apostle and the rewards they receive from ALLAH, the Magnificent. Al-Quran portrays these qualities in such a charming manner, in the shape of a mirror in which every one can see his reflection vividly.

1. One of the outstanding qualities of the pious subjects of ALLAH, the Magnificent, is that they bear a graceful personality. They solve all their problems in the light of knowledge, and as their information gathers up, they get closer to ALLAH, the Magnificnt. This finishes their vanity and arrogance. They seek meekly the pardon of ALLAH, the Magnificent, for their sins all the time. These qualities make their personality improve day by day, and every body respects them whole heartly.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :

And the servants of (ALLAH) most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say. “Peace”; Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing (before Him);. Those who say, “Our Lord! Avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous, evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in”. (25:63-66)

2. Careful spending plays an important role in the progress of any person. In the sublime teachings of ISLAM, a lesson on careful spending is also included, which brightens the prospects of a Muslim.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :

Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes). (25 : 67)

3. There are three reasons for disturbance in the world, Firstly, “INFIDELITY”. An infidel does not observe any rule or principle. (In lesson No. 5, you have learnt about that perilous harms of INFIDELITY). Secondly, “MURDER”. Because murder is without justification, and it causes mutual hatred and enmity on earth, which has no limits. Thirdly, comes “ADULTERY” because one engaged in it, neither cares for his honour nor does he cares for the daughters and sisters of other persons. This results in the multiplication of illegitimate children. They cannot attain a respectable position in the society. This leads to social perversion. Since Islam leads in all departments of life, it provides remedies for such basic evils from the very beginning. It brings up a Muslim in such a manner that he could become a useful citizen.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :

Those who invoke not, with ALLAH, any other god, nor slay such life as ALLAH has made sacred, except for just cause, nor commit fornication; --- and any that does this (not only) meets punishment (but) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy. Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for ALLAH will change the evil of such persons into good, and ALLAH is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to ALLAH with an (acceptable) conversion. (25:68-71)

4. Worship leads man to righteousness, honesty, awareness and wisdom. That is why pious people of ALLAH, the Magnificent, neither tell lies, nor indulge in sins and indecent actions. They do not remain un-mindful of their environment.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :

Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honourable (avoidance). Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind. And those who, pray, “Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous”. (25:72-74)

5. It is possible for ALLAH (the Magnificent) to grant an exalted position to a man with such good qualities in this world, although the reward which ALLAH (the Magnificent) has keept ready for him in the hereafter is better of ever lasting. It is expected of a humane being to thank ALLAH (the Magnificent) for such favours, although ALLAH is beyond such needs.

ALLAH, the Magnificent, says :

Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy: Therein shall they be met with salutations and peace. Dwelling therein; --- how beautiful an abode and place of rest! Say (to the Rejecters) : My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!”. (25:75-77)
