LESSON 4: THE BLESSINGS OF DIVINE UNITY

We have learnt in Lesson 3 that all Prophets preached the same message to their people, that they should worship only Allah, who is their Creator, It is not wise to woship someone, or something, other than the Creator.

In this Lesson we will explore the benefits and advantages of divine unity. Tauheed[1]. (Oneness of Allah), and the reasons why all Prophets preached the same message to their people, even under different conditions and even when they were mistreated or even tortured.

1. A person who stands firm in this belief is loved by Allah, The Al-mighty,. This person worships Allah, The Al-mighty, alone, and no one else. He does what Allah permits and shuns what he forbids. Naturally such a person, obedient to Allah, is rewarded by Him.

This person is a “Muttaqqi”, i.e. one who obeys Allah, The Magnificent, completely, and tries to pattern his life on Allah’s commands. This brings many pleasant changes in life and he leads a peaceful life, confident that Allah, the Al-mighty, will reward him.

Allah, the Magnificent, says :

“And whosoever fears Allah. He will prepare a way out, for him: And will provide for him from (sources) whence he hath no expectation. And whosoever putteth his trust in Allah. He will suffice him., Lo! Allah hath set a measure for all things.” (65 : 2-3)

2. Once a person starts on the path of Tauheed, he sincerely regrets his earlier sins and seeks forgiveness from Allah. Allah, the Magnificent likes such a man, and not only forgives his past sins, but rewards him greatly for his seeking pardon.

Allah, the Al-mighty, says :

And those who, the Al-mighty, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins–Who forgiveth sins save Allah only?–and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did. The reward of such will be forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever–a bountiful reward for workers (and strivers)! (3 : 135-136)

3. People standing from on Tauheed are mentally and spiritually satisfied. They do not suffer from pessimistic thoughts, not do they live in fear.

Allah, the Al-mighty, says :

Lo! Those who sy: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: fear not nor, grieve, but hear good tidings of the Paradise which ye are promised. We are your protecting friends in the life of the world and in the Hereafter. There ye will have (all) that your souls desire, and there ye will have (all) for which ye pray. A gift of welcome from the Forgiving, the Merciful. And who is better in speech than him who prayeth unto his Lord and doth right, and saith: Lo! I am of those who surrender (unto Him)! (41 : 30-33)

4. A great benefit of Tauheed is that the Believer patterns his entire life on obedience to Allah. He knows that Allah, the Magnificent is near him and with him, and is watching him all the time. He cannot deceive Allah, who is All–knowing. So he does what He says, and there is truth in his actions. Such a person is a perpetual source of goodness to people and to society as a whole. When people live such pure lives, the entire community benefits.

Allah (S.W.T) says :

O ye who believe! Fear Allah, and (always) say a word directed to the Right: The He may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive your sins: He, that obeys Allah and His Apostle, has already attained the highest achievement. (33 : 70-71)

5. We have now learnt the various advantages of belief in the sovereignty of Allah (S.W.T). From the rational viewpoint as well as for the smooth running of the universal order it was necessary that the overalll authority to rule should be concentrated in a single power. Such a prodigious power could only be wieded by the creator of the universe. Doubtless, (S.W.T) Allah (S.W.T) is the creator of the universe and every thing that exists in it.

Allah, the Magnificent Says :

If there were therin Gods beside Allah, then verily both (the heavens and the earth) had been disordered. Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Throne, from all that they ascribe (unto Him). (21 : 22)
